My name is Sean Kennaway, an Exercise Scientist and qualified Personal Trainer, who specialises in strength & conditioning, weight management and the management of chronic lower back injuries.
I've been in the health and fitness industry for over 30 years in various roles ranging from individual personal training to the management of major health facilities.
The majority of my career has been spent in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps, predominantly in the management of deployable field hospitals. I have worked all around Australia in a variety of health management, training and planning roles and deployed on several overseas operations, including deployments to; Rwanda, East Timor, Afghanistan and Iraq.
Prior to joining the Army, I studied a Bachelor of Applied Science in Phys Ed and worked in the civilian fitness sector for about six years, working my way up from Gym Instructor to Exercise Physiologist.
I have a passion for all things sport and played AFL at a high level early in my life, having been recruited to Essendon as a 15 year old and was lucky enough to play on the MCG grand final day in 1988 for the Essendon U/19s.
After leaving the Army in 2019, I completed a Cert IV in Fitness to update my fitness knowledge and get back into the civilian health and fitness sector.
I'm currently studying a Graduate Certificate in Strength and Conditioning and plan to articulate this into a Masters of Applied Sports Science with Deakin Uni, rated the #1 sports science school in the World. Once I've completed my Masters I hope to be working with elite athletes preparing them for the Brisbane Olympic Games in 2032.
I'm a mad traveller having backpacked around the World twice and have visited over 100 countries.
I'm a passionate diver having worked as a Divemaster in the Caribbean and completed over 1000 dives.
I'm married to Rachael and we have a pet Moodle named Happy.
I am open to taking on a new clients face-to-face in the Fitzroy area just north of Melbourne. This can be outdoor training in one of the beautiful parks around Fitzroy, or a local health centre.
